NAIDOC Guuma-li \"Gather\

The 2025 UNITY -NAIDOC 2nd Annual Gunnedah Naidoc Committee and Red Chief Local AboriginalLand Council are partnering with schools and community to collaborate andperform in the  \;Guuma-li \"Gather\" Corroboree. Dancel rehearsals will feature both Traditional and Contemporary choreography. Darren Compton, a proud Kamilaroi descendant from Muggera Cultural Enterprise, will return to assist with traditional dances along with a female cultural tutor to ensure cultural protocols are adhered to. Additionally, Troy Ruttley the CEO of Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council and other Kamilaroi descendants (traditional/contemporary), Local Aboriginal dance tutors, will choreograph this years performances alongside our dedicated cultural tutors. \;

Leading up to the Corroboree for NAIDOC Week, students at GunnedahSouth who wish to participate, will be required to attend several dance rehearsals with Deputy Principal Mrs Meleah Walters, Student Learning Support Officer Mrs Nicole Small and Aboriginal Education Officer Aunty Leonie. These dance rehearsals will be held during school hours at Gunnedah HighSchool. Our staff will organise students to attend each rehearsals and walk to and from the venue or be transported via bus.

Studentswill need to commit to performing at the NAIDOC Guuma-li 'Gather' Corroboree which will take place on Friday, 4th of July 2025 at 6pm to 8pm at Gunnedah Showground. Please only give permission if you are able to transport your child/children to attend the final performance.
